Headaches

What kind of headaches do you get? Do you fend off sharp stabs of pain, try to outlast those dull, heavy throbs, or do you fight valiantly with those monstrous migraines that so often confine us to bed?

Agencies Report You Probably Have a Headache

headacheAccording to the American Council on Headache Education, nearly all of us are familiar with at least one of the kinds of headaches mentioned above, as 95% of women and 90% of men have suffered through a headache this past year1 and over 28 million of us experience those blinding migraines, according to the National Headache Foundation.2

Chiropractic More Effective Than Medication for Headache Relief

Fortunately, chiropractic can effectively treat our headaches, whether they be tension headaches or those debilitating migraines. Some studies suggest that chiropractic could be more effective than medication.3

In 2001, researchers at the prestigious Duke University found that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for those with headaches that originate in the neck, and produced significantly fewer side effects and longer-lasting relief for tension-type headaches than a commonly prescribed medication.4

Chiropractic Provides Significant Migraine Relief

Migraine sufferers should take heart, too. In another study, migraine sufferers treated by a Doctor of Chiropractic responded dramatically; some reporting that symptoms completely disappeared and others that symptoms were substantially reduced.

Participants' average frequencies of migraine episodes diminished by 90% and the average length of time of each headache shrank by 38%. The patients were able to reduce their medication use significantly and reported that symptoms associated with migraines such as nausea and sensitivity to light and sound diminished as well.5
